Compromiso, Valores, Servicio, is a pathway program in the spring and early summer offered to Spanish-speaking bilingual students aged 18 and up who are interested in serving as members of a health care team. The program gives students experience serving as medical interpreters while exploring a career in pharmacy.
Participants meet once a week for two-hour sessions to develop clinical skills, learn about the pharmacy profession, and prepare for immersive shadowing opportunities at CrossOver Healthcare Ministry. Participants will interact with various VCU School of Pharmacy faculty, staff, and students throughout the spring semester with the intent of exposing them to different kinds of pharmacy careers and preparing them for the pharmacy school application. Participants will be matched with current pharmacy school students to receive one-on-one mentoring throughout the duration of the CVS Program. The program will close with a graduation celebration and dinner for all participants, faculty, staff, and students involved. Each participant will receive $500 per semester to cover any program costs.
