Eligibility requirements
ACSS was designed to increase the number of persons underrepresented in medicine and/or from disadvantaged backgrounds entering health professions. Students must receive an invitation from the VCU School of Medicine in order to register and it is open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduates who are interested in applying to a medical health professional school or program.
Program description
ACSS is a one-day symposium for students interested in pursuing medicine. Participants receive insight into the clinical side of health careers through hands-on demonstrations in basic clinical skills. Participants are able to choose three clinical sessions to attend during the afternoon portion of the symposium. ACSS participants also receive the information necessary to become competitive professional school applicants.
This year's program will be in person and commitment to full attendance is required to participate.
