Program description

VCU Pharmacy Explorers is a half-day, week-long summer program offered to middle schoolers who are interested in exploring the pharmacy profession. During the program, students will meet pharmacists, tour the hospital pharmacy, conduct nonsterile compounding, strengthen presentation skills and learn about various career pathways in pharmacy.

Activities include:

  • Hospital pharmacy tour
  • Nonsterile compounding
  • Career pathway exploration

Lunch is provided Monday through Thursday.

Parents are invited to tour the school and see students' final presentations from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday.

Commitment to full attendance is required to participate.

Applications will be reviewed to determine an applicant's interest in and commitment to a
career in health care. Interest in pharmacy is preferred. Fifteen students will be chosen based on their perceived interest in a pharmacy career. `
