The purpose of the program is to introduce participants to medical laboratory sciences with a focus on transfusion medicine. Participants will gain knowledge through lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions. Additionally, guest speakers will share their experiences, and participants will tour the clinical laboratories at VCUH. Students will leave the program with a better understanding of medical laboratory sciences and firsthand experience performing the laboratory techniques that are the foundation of transfusion medicine. 

Housing, program materials, campus transportation, and all meals are provided at no cost to the participants. Participants will receive a $500 stipend.
