The mission of VCU P.A.T.H.S. is to improve access to educational pathways for individuals from diverse backgrounds who are seeking enrollment in health sciences disciplines at VCU.
Our programs are designed to assist underrepresented minority (URM) students (i.e., racial/ethnic minorities, low socioeconomic status, first-generation, rural, medically under-served communities, etc.) in their interest to pursue careers related to the health sciences. They are open to all students interested in health sciences careers.
By offering a vast array of pathway programs, we intend to:
- Encourage students to explore career opportunities within the profession of healthcare,
- Provide students with access to academic and social resources that contribute to their success in preparation for health professions/graduate school admissions, and
- Connect students with a network of healthcare providers and community partners who support our mission.
A wonderful group of students and professionals make up our network of VCU Diversity P.A.T.H.S. alumni, each with a unique and inspiring story about their journey in becoming a health professional. Many of our alumni have remained engaged with the office by volunteering for our programs or sharing their encouraging stories with prospective applicants.
If you're a former participant and you'd like to share your story with us, please take a moment to complete our alumni survey. If you have trouble accessing this form, please email dsei@vcu.edu and we will provide accommodation.
