Eligibility requirements
Greater Richmond area students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. Students must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
GPA Requirement: 3.0 or above.
Program description
VCU Dental Scholars is an after-school program that meets twice a month for 90-minute workshops. Program participants will have the opportunity to be paired with a VCU pre-dental mentor student to explore topics such as choosing a college, financing dental school, public speaking, and more! Scholars students will also have the opportunity to carve a tooth out of soap, make a dental impression, learn how to suture, visit the digital dentistry lab, and MORE!
There is no cost for the program; dental lab supplies are provided. Commitment to full attendance (all 8 sessions) is required to participate.
2023 Program Dates: January 11, January 25, February 8, February 22, March 15, March 29, April 12, and April 26. All sessions will be held from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at VCU School of Dentistry (520 N. 12th St., Richmond, VA 23298).
