My name is Fran and I identify as a proud Filipina-American originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I graduate with my BS in Biology with minors in Spanish and Chemistry at VCU in 2018, and I am excited to be back in Richmond pursuing my Masters in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at my alma mater.

I am passionate about food, the outdoors, MCU fan theories, my cat Sunshine, and most importantly creating a more robust dialogue for mental health in the AAPI community. In my free time, you can find me seeking out Richmond’s best restaurants and cafes, and enthusiastically writing subsequent Yelp reviews. My ideal weekend consists of camping and hiking at Virginia’s State & National Parks.

I chose to be a SCIE Ambassador to advocate for the representation of the AAPI community not only in the field of mental health and rehabilitation, but also here on the MCV Campus and beyond. With the increase in hate crimes towards individuals of AAPI descent, the inclusion of our voices in places where decisions are made is especially salient. I look forward to collaborating with individuals of other underrepresented communities to create an inclusive environment in which all individuals feel deeply seen and heard.
